Claude A. Simard is a Canadian painter, graphic designer, educator, and author celebrated for his vibrant depictions of flower gardens, landscapes, still lifes, and figures. Following studies at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, he established a distinguished career in graphic design, creating the iconic Simons green leaf logo, founding the design firm Communikart, and co-founding the Societies graphistes du Québec. Elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1981, Simard taught at Université Laval for twenty years while developing a significant body of paintings exhibited in leading galleries and museums across Canada and internationally, including the Musée du Québec and the Château de Bagatelle in Paris. His artistic contributions also include historical murals for Parks Canada, the design of eight Canadian postage stamps, as well as several published books reflecting his enduring passions for painting and gardening.
