The inspiration for this work came from a close encounter with a fully loaded logging truck on a back road near Campbell River B.C.

Seeking a fresh start after the war, Andrews and her husband immigrated to Canada, settling permanently in Campbell River in 1947. Although Campbell River today is a bustling and growing community, when Andrews and Morgan arrived it was still a backwater where it was possible to recreate the kind of simple – though admittedly more primitive – way of life they had enjoyed in England.
