A.J. Casson, the youngest member of the Group of Seven, was renowned for his depictions of southern Ontario villages and farms. With Franklin Carmichael, he founded the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour in 1925.

The best of Casson’s works were painted with clear dramatic colours, strong design and interesting subject matter.
