Dan Christensen was a leading American artist associated with Lyrical Abstraction, Color Field painting, and Abstract Expressionism. Born in Cozad, Nebraska, Christensen studied at the Kansas City Art Institute before moving to New York in the mid-1960s, where he became part of a dynamic circle of postwar abstractionists. His work is known for its vibrant color, energetic composition, and continual stylistic evolution. Christensen exhibited widely throughout his career, with works included in the collections of major institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
